Next Generation ISDN Product Family

Important News, Information and Technical Documents

As everyone is probably aware, bringing a new ISDN telephone platform to market is very complicated. The Lucent Next Generation product family has had its share of "bugs" as it has developed over the past year and a half. As of August 2001, all of the known "bugs" have been removed and numerous product enhancements have been loaded into the latest edition Firmware for both the i2021 and i2022. The majority of issues have been associated with Data Link Down errors when running on 5E Custom and National Standard and some quirky issues only applicable when running on 5E Custom. In spite of the bugs discovered during early deployment, the Next Generation ISDN and Analog Centrex platform is the most exciting and feature-rich ISDN product family of recent development. The up-side to all this is that the Next Generation ISDN telephones are Firmware driven and can be upgraded without hardware changes. Thus future enhancements can easily be obtained to keep your investment loaded with current technology.

If you are experiencing problems with any of the Next Generation Product Family, please contact us for help. We are always happy to offer technical support to our customers and will be glad to point you in the right direction if you didn't purchase your equipment from IDS. (336) 299-4409 or EMail: Mail@IDS

For those of you performing upgrades to i2021 and i2022 telephones using the FWLoader Program, be sure to always Menu 91 the set after the upgrade. This ensures the upgrade is set and cleans out any "cob-webs" from the old firmware. This also places the set in a virgin state and allows the telephone to query the switch once it is returned to service.

In keeping with our commitment to offer technical support, the following links to web based resources are presented for your information.
