Network Termination Units (NT1)

Lucent Network Termination Units (NT1) units are reliable, compact and versatile. They provide a direct interface between the switch and an ISDN telephone. The NT1 is a small box or circuit card located at the users premise at the end of the line coming in from the service provider. The NT1 converts the 2-wire U-interface from the Central Office Switch to a 4-wire T-interface for the ISDN device.

The NT1 connects the U-interface to the S/T interface on the phone and performs such critical functions as performance monitoring, multiplexing and line termination. With a Mean Time Between Failure Rate well above the norm, Lucent NT1 units are among the most reliable in the industry.

NT1s are available in a number of models and configurations. These economical, compact units fit easily in small
spaces and are easy to install.

PR96 PoweRack

The PR96 is a premise powering unit that integrates NT1 caging, 48 volt DC power, and battery backup in a single unit for powering ISDN telephones and Lucent NT1P-230 circuit card NT1's.  The PR96 will house and power up to 48 NT1P-230 NT1's and provide power for up to 96 phones in a multipoint mode.  Distribution is accomplished using standard 50 pin amphenol connectors which eliminate the need to use punchdown blocks.  All power lines to the terminals and NT1's are protected by solid state thermal fusing.  Additional external battery packs can be added at any time for increased standby time.  During extended periods of utility outage the batteries are protected from over-discharge by the built-in low voltage detector and disconnect circuit.  Remote monitoring is provided by a contact closure that can be interfaced to a remote alarm unit.

PP300.jpg (12061 bytes) PowerPack 300

PowerPack 300 was introduced to augment the powering of the PowerRack 300 series power racks. The PP300 is an auxiliary power rack that increases the power capabilities of the PR300 by providing an additional 250 watts of capacity for load requirements that exceed the rated capacities of the PR300's. The PP300 simply plugs into an existing PR300 and can be wall or rack mounted. It can also be utilized as a power spare to allow on-line maintenance of the PR300. Use ComCode 300147964

The PR230 PoweRack for NT1P-230 and Amphenol Connection

PR230.jpg (21037 bytes)

The PoweRack230 is an uninterruptible power source for ISDN CPE. The PR230 integrates a NT1 card cage, cabling, dc power supply (-48vdc), and a 2.5 amphour battery. The NT1cage hold 12 Lucent NT1-P230 cards, with powering and distribution for up to 24 terminals.

Input U and output S/T cabling distribution is by telco standard 25 pair amphenol connectors.    S/T outputs provide four output pair for each terminal.  Dual rectifiers supply redundant power.  NT1’s are protected by solid state thermal fusing.  The PR230 mounts on the wall or back to back on a 19-inch rack with optional mounting for 23 inch and 25 inch racks.  LED’s on the front panel for normal and alarm conditions provide local status of system operation. Remote system monitoring is available by utilizing the PR230’s form C relay (RJ11) contact with an optional remote alarm unit. Battery holdover time can be increased by adding external BP2 battery packs. The PR230 comes in two configurations; the PR230-24 for 12 NT1s and 24 multipoint terminals, and the PR230-24 for 24 NT1s and 48 multipoint terminals. The PR230-24 can be field upgraded by adding a separate P230 Cage, the 230R.  The PoweRack230 also can provide power and battery holdover to legacy NT1 cages such as the Lucent NT1M-210 cage.
